[Vegan] French Toast. Whatever You Need, Whatever You Want, Whatever You Desire, We Provide. All natural, wholesome, and remarkably close to the original. My Vegan French Toast uses tofu instead of eggs and as the French Toast cooks in the pan, the custard starts to set a little and you end up with the same texture as you would if using eggs.
Add a mashed banana or a few tablespoons of applesauce to the mix for added sweetness and flavor. Add fresh berries or crushed nuts to the mix if you wish for even more variety. When I first heard about vegan french toast, I really had no clue how you could make this happen. You can have [Vegan] French Toast using 8 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

I mean french toast is just so….eggy. Like…how would you achieve this without eggs? Well the answer is a little chickpea flour with non-dairy milk and a few other ingredients to mimic the 'eggy' flavor and it works so well! French toast is a classic breakfast and brunch food.
[Vegan] French Toast step by step
- Whisk the chickpea flour, spices, milk, vanilla and salt together in a shallow container..
- Gently heat the butter or oil in a skillet..
- Dip a slice of the bread into the mixture and coat well on each side. Place in the skillet and fry on medium heat for a minute on each side until golden brown..
- Repeat with the other slices..
- Serve with fruit, maple syrup, berries, yoghurt... and enjoy :-).
Eating vegan doesn't mean you have to give up this tasty breakfast item though. Instead, simply try making it egg and dairy-free. You can also use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free and vegan dish if that is a requirement of your crowd. Thank you so much for posting! I do add some vanilla extract but I add it to just about every baking recipe I make!
