Grind the rice, black pepper and cumin seeds into a course mixture. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and the rice is cooked. Simmer for sometime keeping the pan closed. Arisi Upma, a simple savory tiffin delicacy prepared with rice and toor dal.

Once it does, lower your flame to minimum; add in the salt as preferred and gently mix in the powder to the water. Make sure to stay careful as a few drops of water may splash around..
